5 reasons why you should read ‘The Sellout Nation’

Share

Here are 5 reasons why you should definitely read my book – The Sellout Nation – India’s tryst with Globalisation.

1. Fresh ContentIf you are bored of reading love stories set in MBA institutes or have had your share of self-help books for this season, or if your bookrack is falling apart with YA novels, I suggest you give a break to your palate and pick up my book for its fresh content. My book is bold, topical, relevant, and tackles a subject matter that has impacted us all – the Globalisation of India.

2. The Matrix of Globalisation: We have all seen the movie ‘The Matrix’ and have loved it, but what do we understand about ‘The Matrix of Globalisation’? My book joins the various dots of this capitalistic model and lays bare the step-by-step takeover of our nation, through deceit, dollars, and under table deals. How else could an agrarian nation like ours, that had won freedom on the principles of Swadeshi, become the “poster nation” of Globalisation? It makes a mockery of the ideals of our freedom struggle.

3. Political Satire: Now, if you have hurriedly concluded that my book is a piece of research with facts falling off its pages and rather drab for your taste, you are mistaken. ‘The Sellout Nation’ is a work of fiction with an outrageous plotline. In fact, it is a political satire, full of jokes, jibes, and insights. And what more, it has a host of referential characters, like Rahul Bhaiya (MLA, MP, CM, PM), Finance Minister Mohan Singh, Miss India Nagar Asha Rai, Brand Ambassador Shalu Khan, and international dignitaries like the President and First lady Secretary of the USK, Mr. George W. Push and Miss Pamela Lewinsky. Name another book that can boast of such a splendid star cast?

4. Historical Perspective: Nothing exists without history. My book builds a strong case and compares the current spread of Globalisation to the many invasions that we have faced in the past, by foreign raiders, invaders, and empires. Really, how many times will we have to fall prey to international deceit and lose our freedom each time? For this reason, my book mentions ‘FDI’ as ‘Foreign Direct Invasion’.

5. In (Re)Public Interest: Although my book is a happy read, with twisted phraseology, spoof characters, silly jokes, and cheap digs, it is sensitive to the issue it presents. I believe, it is not fair for any nation to be guided by financial interests of other nations, even if it means short-term GDP jumps and availability of Chinese made western products in the domestic market. My book is in the Republic’s interest and openly roots for localisation.

Lastly, as I see it,  three decades have passed since Globalisation arrived at our doorstep and turned us away from our core values, someone had to put this nonsense on paper. I am glad, I did it.

I hope you will give my book a chance and allow yourself some laughter too. Your comments, reviews, criticism are wholly welcome.

You can buy my book on Amazon, Kindle, or directly from the homegrown Notion Press.

Best.
