Stillness come, stillness stay,
a little longer, till day sets for day.
Anxious this night,
pretentious this roleplay,
thought I was rock, but
I am soft like clay.
Fairness, freedom, just words
to which we fall prey;
they keep hope on fire
till the soul turns grey.
Cannot resolve this pain, but
tomorrow is another day.
Happiness at the horizon,
if I can find the way?
Must elevate my heart first
from this rueful ashtray;
anchor myself in my being’s worth,
for that only I pray –
Stillness come, stillness stay,
a little longer, till my boat finds a bay.
